I’m feeling pretty well today and am getting caught up a bit on developments here in the forest the last few days. Here are some wildflowers I spotted along the trail (and photographed) on March 26:

Spring Beauty, Claytonia virginica

Harvey’s Buttercup, Ranunculus harveyi

It’s really a gift to be able to see your wildflower photos. For someone like me, who lives in the city, glimpses of these shy, small flowers in their natural habitats, surrounded by moss and grasses, are a rare revelation. It never ceases to amaze me how Nature creates these plants that look so delicate and exquisite, yet are so sturdy and perfectly adapted to their environment.
I grew up with buttercups and playing that stupid game “do you love butter?”
I miss them.
