Mirror of Silver, Rippling of Blue
More photos I took while kayaking – both of Lake Ontario – taken today and yesterday, respectively. It feels so wonderful to get out on the water, gliding through grey or paddling through blue! I am feeling completely overwhelmed right now by a project I am trying to do, so it is a blissful break to remember how it felt to be rising and falling so slowly and gently this morning with the subtle pulsation of Lake Ontario at rest, like a direct connection with the heartbeat of the earth.
A seagull takes flight in a silent world of silver and grey.

The first photo is quite beautiful–almost akin to an ink painting.
in the top pic you captured a certain majesty not often noticed in seagulls.. perhaps it was jonathon livingston seagull?
seagulls are so much fun…they remind me sometimes of little italian men…and it looks like your mom and i do similar types of mandala making…
thanks for the sub
ds

Amazing! I wish I could do photos like these. You have a good eye for it.
Hold the feeling of being on the water all the time you are doing your project. Thanks for coming by and seeing me. Judi
Beautiful pictures-how wonderful to be able to kayak amongst the seagulls! What project are you working one? Glad you liked my poem-thanks!
Great photographs!! And good luck with your project! Thank you for your comment. ~ Diane Clancy
Beautiful photos and expression!
I love seagulls. They are so cute!
*sparkle
The photos are beautiful; I love water birds, and so rarely get to see them here in Colorado. The bird in the top photo almost looks like a heron to me, with that wingspan and the long, graceful neck.
(Funny, though, now that I think about it, I saw a gull in a supermarket parking lot last weekend, and I wondered how he’d decided to take a vacation in the mountains!)
RYC: Your words of support, and the parable about the rock, mean so much to me. Since I read your comment, I’ve kept that phrase in my mind: Let go of the rock! Sometimes the only way I can let go is not out of desire to release the past, but out of sheer emotional and spiritual exhaustion. Having friends who understand that struggle is so important.
I love that new profile photo, of the golden autumn leaf. It can’t be a coincidence that I keep seeing images of dying leaves or flowers “clinging” or “hanging on” in nature lately
.
The photos that you post are always a gift.
The seagull photo is one of the best I’ve ever seen. How I envy you getting on the water so much.
These images are so peaceful… and the water reminds me of why I chose to move to this place, surrounded by water on three sides.
“silent world of silver and grey”……love the image that comes to my mind.
Love your pictures…. glad your having a great time
that first shot is lovely. i used to kayak here in SoCal until my back problems. i miss it…so great to be out on the water alone.
Great photos. Judi
Thanks so much for the kind words. Judi
“ I’ve often thought on the perception that time accelerates as we age, and I have a theory. When we are 4 years old, a year feels like forever since it represents 1/4 or 25% of our entire life; in contrast, at age 40 a year is a mere 1/40th or 2.5% of our entire life. So in that sense, time really does speed up as we grow older! “
That’s exactly what I’ve always thought.
The water in that second pic is lovely. . .
Those photo’s are fantastic. I especially like the first one. It reminds me of a painting. The water in the second one is such a crazy intense blue… I wish I could see it in person :]
Haven’t heard much from you. How have you been?
*sparkle
I hope you’re still doing wonderfully!
Lovely pictures and peaceful thoughts… thank you.
I had the great pleasure of spending time with your mom last week at Big Moose. It appears to me that the apple doesn’t fall very far from the tree. : ) I look forward to finding some time to explore your site.
Peace and sharp focus ~
